Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Cabernet in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

SUMMER AND BLT’S

This week we have enjoyed BLT’S with tomatoes Angela has grown from her garden. We like the bacon cooked in a cast iron skillet. But can’t use it on the glass top stove,so it’s cooked on the grill outside.

Also we cooked Jalapeno peppers stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon, those are cooked on the grill and boy are they good.. Can you say Zocor(Simvastatin)

Friday night we were invited to a surprise birthday party for a ex neighbor of ours. They had a nice buffet and it was good to see them and catch up with there life's.

They also own the sister to Annie our lab, we have planed a play date for them to see each other it’s been about a year.

Saturday it was up early to go Parkville,Mo witch is about 3 miles from home. It was Parkville Days and it was going to be hot today so we wanted to get a early start.

017

This is what we found at 10am on main street people and cars every where.Guess everybody had the same idea to get our early.

018

A die hard fisherman sat alone fishing in the Missouri River and it was real hot and I didn't see him catch anything.

I looked like a drowned river rat and Annie was just dying to get in the water.I told her if she did she would end up in Saint Louis, because the river is moving pretty fast and has a strong current. I guess she could stop on the way down and see Sam and Riggs.

A long with crafts and food tents there was the carnival with the games and rides.

028

As you leave the park and head backup main street you have to cross the BNSF rail road track, it’s a main line with a train about every 30 min. my brother in-law that just retired was the maintainer on the track here.

We had a good weekend hope you did to..

Homegrown tomatoes are always the best. Those sandwiches sound like a great idea. Nice post about your great day.

Yumm! I love the heritage tomatoes available at this time of year. Not to much acid. We had our garden years in Wisconsin. Where we are now the deer would ravage the tomatoes unless we had a good fence. Water is also at a premium.

Enjoy what you have while you have it!

Those BLT's sound soooo good, I do not care what a cardiologist would say!

Oh yea, BLT's. But here in Southern NJ we truly believe we grow the best tasting tomatoes. Must be as Campbell Soup started here due to the abundance of our tomatoes.

As Leonard is from Louisiana I have learned to love Jalapenas and he now agrees with me about our tomatoes.

Gotta love Black Labs. Our boy is now 14 and really slowing down.
