Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Cabernet in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

Here We Go Again

Had another snow storm coming thru Thursday,Max said he was getting tired of dragging his belly thru the deep snow every time he had to go outside because of his short legs.So he decided to just curl up and sleep thru it and dream of spring.

006

If I just cover my eyes maybe it will just go away..

009

After having just gotten rid of all the snow from the “BLIZZARD OF 2011” and the ground was bare and drying up,we woke Friday to this another 6 to 8 inch of this stuff. Here we go again!!

014

If that wasn't a nuff of a slap in the face gas went from $3.04 to this while we were a sleep. What's up with that? Why do they sneak around in the middle of the night to raise the price? And no I don’t buy gas from bp.

010

Saturday was a gloomy and gray day,so it to was a uneventful day of watching TV and computer reading. It’s off to work Sunday.

As always thank all of the new and long time readers of our blog,we have learned a lot by reading other blogs and about there travels. We hope that some day soon to meet in person.

Has Spring Sprung??

This week felt like spring was here as we had temps in the 70’s but I know better then to think it’s here, we live in the Midwest and it can snow thru May (1.5 inch 1907) so I guess we won’t put the winter wear away just yet.

since it was so nice I did get something's done around here, like the truck witch was so dirty I hated touching the door handle to get in. Now the weather man is talking about getting ready for all the spring floods coming and showing people getting sand bags filled and ready for the big spring thaw. We have a saying here if you don’t like the weather here in Missouri just wait a hour and it will change.

Friday we spent the day visiting my mom,she turned 85 in December. She has Alzheimer's and has been getting weaker,I think she looks pretty good for 85.

 008 (15)

I was off Thursday,Friday and Saturday,I worked today and I’m off Monday for President’s Day holiday. It’s a tough life working for a church. That’s about all the fun around here for this week.

Be MY Valentine

This is from a e-mail we received and wanted to share it.

 image
I would never trade my amazing friends, my wonderful life, my loving family for less gray hair or a flatter belly. As I've aged, I've become kinder to myself, and less critical of myself. I've become my own friend. I don't chide myself for eating that extra cookie, or for not making my bed, or for buying that silly cement gecko that I didn't need, but looks so avante garde on my patio. I am entitled to a treat, to be messy, to be extravagant.

I have seen too many dear friends leave this world too soon; before they understood the great freedom that comes with aging.
Whose business is it if I choose to read or play on the computer until 4 AM and sleep until noon? I will dance with myself to those wonderful tunes of the 60 &70's, and if I, at the same time, wish to weep over a lost love ..... I will.
image
I will walk the beach in a swim suit that is stretched over a bulging body, and will dive into the waves with abandon if I choose to, despite the pitying glances from the jet set. They, too, will get old.
I know I am sometimes forgetful. But there again, some of life is just as well forgotten. And I eventually remember the important things.
Sure, over the years my heart has been broken. How can your heart not break when you lose a loved one, or when a child suffers, or even when somebody's beloved pet gets hit by a car? But broken hearts are what give us strength and understanding and compassion. A heart never broken is pristine and sterile and will never know the joy of being imperfect.
image
I am so blessed to have lived long enough to have my hair turning gray, and to have my youthful laughs be forever etched into deep grooves on my face.
So many have never laughed, and so many have died before their hair could turn silver.

image
As you get older, it is easier to be positive. You care less about what other people think. I don't question myself anymore. I've even earned the right to be wrong.
So, to answer your question, I like being old. It has set me free.. I like the person I have become. I am not going to live forever, but while I am still here, I will not waste time lamenting what could have been, or worrying about what will be. And I shall eat dessert every single day (if I feel like it).

MAY OUR FRIENDSHIP NEVER COME APART, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART!

Starting Over and Happy Valentine's Day

I got my laptop back Thursday from the computer hospital,I was happy that they did save all my pictures, but everything else was pretty much gone. I spent Friday putting things back on like I had it. If I knew as much about this stuff as Rick http://rickpaulettervjournal.blogspot.com I’m sure it would not take me as long to set it up.Everyone has a talent they say I’m still looking for mine. Can anyone recommend a on line photo storage site for us to keep pictures safe?

Friday night Angela and I had a Valentine’s dinner and boy was it good, Rib Eye and Lobster with a little wine ok a lot of wine. We like going out to eat but being at home is more relaxing to us. As you can see by the cards we get each other we like to keep things lite and fun.

BAD VIRUS

Friday as I was getting my blog ready for Sunday everything was going fine with my laptop I was putting pictures of our week with the blizzard and the grandkids 9th birthday dinner  and Saturday’s birthday party…..And then it happened. I looked thru some E-MAILS  and then I shut the computer down, I planed on finishing the blog later. When I came back later to boot it up all I got was it trying to start and it never did #@$%* I knew then I had a bigger problem then I could fix. I called the company that works on our stuff at the church ,they told me to bring it in to see what was wrong with it,so off to the computer hospital we went. I haven't heard back from them yet.

The bad thing is I had nothing backed up like my pictures. I sure hope they can save them.

Hope everyone has a good week.
