Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Cabernet in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

Entitlement???

It’s been a slow news week around here and everybody is tired of hearing about the hot weather.

Here is a e-mail I received and thought was interesting. What do you think??

An "Entitlement???"

What the hell is wrong here?

Remember, not only did you contribute to Social Security but your employer did too. It totaled 15% of your income before taxes. If you averaged only 30K over your working life, that’s close to $220,500. If you calculate the future value of $4,500 per year (yours & your employer’s contribution) at a simple 5% (less than what the govt. pays on the money that it borrows), after 49 years of working (me) you'd have $892,919.98. If you took out only 3% per year, you receive $26,787.60 per year and it would last better than 30 years, and that’s with no interest paid on that final amount on deposit! If you bought an annuity and it paid 4% per year, you'd have a lifetime income of $2,976.40 per month. The folks in Washington have pulled off a bigger Ponzi scheme than Bernie Madoff ever had.

Entitlement my ass, I paid cash for my social security insurance!!!! Just because they borrowed the money, doesn't make my benefits some kind of charity or handout!! Congressional benefits, aka. free health care, outrageous retirement packages, 67 paid holidays, three weeks paid vacation, unlimited paid sick days, now that's welfare, and they have the nerve to call my retirement entitlements !!!!!!.....scroll down..............

Emergency Rooms for their general health care -At just one hospital the cost to tax payers totaled over 25 million a year!!!

Someone please tell me what the HELL's wrong with all the people that run this country!!!!!!

We're "broke" & can't help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless etc.,???????????

In the last months we have provided aid to Haiti, Chile, and Turkey. And now Pakistan home of bin Laden. Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!!
Our retired seniors living on a 'fixed income'
receive no aid nor do they get any breaks while our government and religious organizations pour Hundreds of Billions of $$$$$$'s and Tons of Food to Foreign Countries!

They call Social Security and Medicare an entitlement even though most of us have been paying for it all our working lives and now when its time for us to collect, the government is running out of money. Why did the government borrow from it in the first place?

We have hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved aside to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans.

AMERICA: a country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed hungry, elderly going without 'needed' meds, and mentally ill without treatment -etc,etc.
YET......................
They have a 'Benefit' for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies.

Imagine if the *GOVERNMENT* gave 'US' the same support they give to other countries.

SAD?

YEAH, OK, SO WHEN DO WE GET PISSED AND

DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT?????

99% of people won't have the guts to forward this.

I'm one of the 1% -- I Just Did

ONE DAY CLOSER TO OUR DREAM

I’ve often wonder why Americans are so tolerant of congressmen and senators who rail and vote against Medicare for all citizens while cheerfully accepting ‘blue chip’ government health care for themselves and their families. Where’s the outrage over this hypocrisy?

Forget the Tea Party, I’d be for forming a ‘Hypocrite Party’ demanding that every Senator and Congressman who votes against providing affordable Health Care to all Americans, be forced to give up their own Government subsidized health care plan and get their own private health insurance like everyone else. Doesn’t that seem fair?

Our representatives go to Washington thinking they are going to change the system. But soon find out - it is a system and they become part of the problem. The solution? Smarter people than me don't have answers.

I could not agree with you more...I am totally blown away by the dastardly act the Dems pulled when they raided the Social Security Fund and put it into the General Fund! How did they pull that off without an outrage heard across this country? Just more money taken from the taxpaying citizens of this country for them to squander at will. Can we not DEMAND that this fund be made whole and used exclusively for SOCIAL SECURITY? How are these leeches in Washington allowed to change their medical plans, salaries and retirement plans at will and raid our funds that we have paid for? Sorry for the rant.

How were those leeches in Washington allowed to pilfer and plunder OUR Social Security Funds by putting this dedicated fund into the General fund without so much as a whimper from the Seniors and every other taxpayer across this country? It would appear that we, the people, have absolutely no control over anything this bunch wishes to do...Social Security, Food Stamps, Housing..all the trimmings for those that have never paid a penny into the SYSTEM. How have we, the people, allowed them to have free reign over setting their pay schedule, retirement and medical plans and all we can do is wring our hands?

Sorry for the rant. Voting does no good, we are outnumbered.

I could not agree more. What is not mentioned is that we had no choice in contributing to these programs, they were mandatory.

The biggest entitlement hogs in this country are the clowns in Washington who get a life time pension after one term in office, free medical for life, no obligation to follow all the rules they make for everyone else. Yet they still have the gall to talk about entitlements.

I have to quit now to protect my blood pressure:)
