Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Cabernet in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

Merry Christmas

My dear precious Jesus, I did not mean to take your place,
I only bring toys and things and you bring love and grace.
People give me lists of wishes and hope that they came true;
But you hear prayers of the heart and promise your will to do.
Children try to be good and not to cry when I am coming to town;...

But you love them unconditionally and that love will abound.
I leave only a bag of toys and temporary joy for a season;
But you leave a heart of love, full of purpose and reasons.
I have a lot of believers and what one might call fame;
But I never healed the blind or tried to help the lame.
I have rosy cheeks and a voice full of laughter;
But no nail—scarred hands or a promise of the hereafter.
You may find several of me in town or at a mall;
But there is only one omnipotent you, to answer a sinner’s call.
And so, my dear precious Jesus, I kneel here to pray;
To worship and adore you on this, your holy birthday.

Day Trips

We bought a book called Stone Cabins from the naked book seller http://jpgmag.com/photos/712137 click link to see.

The book has a list of 19 day trips around the "Q" to see old stone cabins and ghost towns and mines. We have done the first one and found this old house up in the hills.

Angela trying to ski down hill..

This is called Spanish Wall.

Kinda looks like a Dodge commercial .

Not a bad little fixer upper you think?

It's got a great view.

Angela likes the idea not having to clean the windows.

There is a active mine on this site also.

Only 18 more day trips to go. Thing's here in Q are picking up and the flea markets are popping up everyday and the desert rats(RV'ers) are moving in.

Made It To The "Q"

We left the Yuma area Tuesday and drove 60 miles north to the "Q". Angela was done with the dentist in Mexico. We both got new glasses and Angela got a new smile.

We have been camping on BLM land that means no electricity no water hookup no sewer hookup. Just our generator and the blue boy. It was not bad at all, we had a sewer dump and fresh water about a 1/2 mile down the road. A lot of the desert rats that have done this type of camping for a lot of years have solar  and toys to go with it.

Some pictures of Mexico

The best one is being back on the US side of the border.

We are now at the "Q" camping on BLM land about 2 miles from town. It kinda  looks like Mexico with all flee market tents everywhere.

We have been out checking out the town to find the food stores and propane and liquor store ect. We plan to be here till April. Then we will start heading north we have to be in South Dakota May 1 for our summer gig till September and then to Kansas City for the month of October and then south again.   I will post some pictures of our site soon.

All most for got the pictures of our desert happy hour.

The weather has been great in the afternoon.

We Moved

We left Columbus, NM on Friday and moved over to Benson, AZ for the week then on to Yuma, AZ.

We are located at the Escapee's SKP Saguaro Park in Benson, AZ. What a great place to live fulltime or to just visit. We will do some site seeing this week like Tombstone and the OK Corral and other places. The weather here is beautiful. Here are some pictures I took on my hike and around the park. Today is Annie's ( our lab) 6th birthday so we went up in the hills for a walk.

Pancho Villa

What a week we have had. We left Coffeyville, KS last Sunday because Angela had a toothache and I have a bad rotator. Yep getting older is not for sissy.

We started for the Mexico border to get her tooth fixed. It took us 4 days to get to Deming, NM  we crossed the border at Palomas on Thursday. Angela had caps on her front teeth and under one of the caps the tooth had died and had to be pulled. It has a stitch and they made her a false tooth. We were told to come back this coming Thursday to have it removed and do a deep cleaning.

Since we have to spend the week here we moved down to Columbus, NM to Pancho Villa State Park. I was wandering if he was related to Bob Villa.

Some pictures of our Mexico day trip.

If all goes well we will be heading to Arizona on Friday.

This will be our hideout for the next week..

Three Days off At Amazon

Our weekend starts on Thursday we have three days off from Amazon.com. The neighbor next door notice my truck had a oil leak and came over to tell me. I went out to check it out and sure enough it was. The truck is a 2008 and only has 45000 on it. I called the Dodge dealer in Independence, KS for a appointment they said to bring it in Friday and I thought o boy being Friday I would have to leave it and have to rent a car for a week. We arrived at 7:30 and they got it right in.

As it happened it is the weekend for Kansas largest annual celebration called Neewollah that's Halloween back wards its a pretty big deal around here. My sister in law is from Independence, KS so she comes down every year for her class reunion and the celebration. She came by the dealer ship and picked us up. Went to a local cafe for a great breakfast and then she gave us a tour of her home town.

                                                                            Stella and Angela

She took us to Elk City Army Corps lake

Time for that Kodak moment...

At about noon the dealer ship called and said the truck was ready. They told me it was a small plug in the side of the block that was leaking and needing cleaned and some kind of sealant put on it. And sir that will be $165 and thanks for coming in. I guess it could have been worse and cost a lot more.

Later in the day Friday we meat up with another couple we work with for happy hour and dinner in the little town of Liberty, KS. The place is called Jack's and its the only retail business in the town other than a grain mill. Population 120 great food its a hang out for Amazon workers.

Today Saturday is our day of rest we start our 4 day week Sunday Angela is getting lunch and dinners ready. After getting up at 4:30 am and getting home after 5:00 we our to tired to do much but have a few beers for the pain and a bite to eat then it time to go to bed and start over.

Week One Down At Amazon

We worked Sunday thru Wednesday 6:30 am till 11:30 5 hour days. This week we start 10 hour days. I have a feeling I'm going to be real tired this week. I may not comment on a lot of blogs but will try to read a few.

Friday we took a drive to Independence, KS for lunch and some site seeing. About 13 miles south of town we found the Little House On The Prairie Site. Of the Laura Ingalls Wilder fame. You can get the real story here or you can just read mine .lol   http://www.kansastravel.org/littlehouseontheprairie.htm

US Post Office

The post master lived in the post office

The old school house.

The nurse's office at school. How would you like the teacher to be giving your child "Cocaine Toothache Drops"

This was a real working 1890's farm house..

Me taking a little rest on the front porch. If I had a white suit on it would look like Col. Sanders.

Angela taking a rest on a stump chair. And no it's not the old out house.

The Three Amigos..
