Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Cabernet in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO-HOO, what a ride!!"

Time To Go To Work Vaction Is Over

We have been having a lot of fun here in Branson seeing all the sites until the other day when Angela drop me off at the pawnshop to see what she could get out of me.

We had brunch with some fine fun people

Donna, Ron and Ali

Jay and Stella on the right.

The famous Sam and Donna from the Weeb Ranch.

We all had a good time for a couple hours swapping stories.

I had to break the news to Annie that vacation is over for a while that we had to go to work and make some money to get her and Max for more treats.

As you can see she didn't take it so well.

Next blog will be from Amazon in Kansas.

Wednesday Funny

As we are in Branson, MO I thought about a little Hillbilly humor for todays funny.

Hillbilly Love Poem

Suzie Anne done fell in love;
She planned to marry Joe.
She was so happy 'bout it all
She told her Pappy so.

Pappy told her, "Susie gal,
You'll have to find another.
I'd just as soon yo'Ma don't know,
But Joe is yo'half brother"

So Susie put aside her Joe
And planned to marry Will.
But after telling Pappy this,
He said, "There's trouble still...

You can't marry Will, my gal.,
And please don't tell your Mother,
But Will and Jo and several mo'
I know is yo'half brother"

But Mama knew and said, "My child,
Just do what makes yo' happy.
Marry Will or marry Joe
You ain't no kin to Pappy.

Branson Shows

This week we had company  here in Branson. My sister and brother in law came down for there wedding anniversary.

We took in a couple shows.

Baldknobbers Jamboree in Branson, Missouri

Presleys' Country Jubilee Logo

Presley's Country Jubilee in Branson, Missouri

They were both good shows but we enjoyed the Presley's  the best. We ate out a lot during the week and the ones we liked best were the little local dinners downtown old Branson they were home style cooking which is always better then the chain restaurant's to us.

We have one more week here and then we move on to work at Amazon, being retired for a month I think I'm ready to go do some work and meet new friends  knowing it just a job and not a career and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel of spending the winter in a warm place, can't  wait for that.

Wednesday Funny

Riding a dead horse

The tribal wisdom of the Plains Indians, passed on from generation to generation, says: "When you discover that you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount. "

However, in government more advanced strategies are often employed, such as:

1.  Buying a stronger whip.

2. Changing riders.

3. Appointing a committee to study the horse.

4. Arranging to visit other countries to see how other cultures ride dead horses.

5. Lowering the standards so that dead horses can be included.

6. Reclassifying the dead horse as living-impaired.

7. Hiring outside contractors to ride the dead horse.

8. Harnessing several dead horses together to increase speed.

9. Providing additional funding and/or training to increase the dead horse's performance.

10. Doing a productivity study to see if lighter riders would improve the dead horse's performance.

11. Declaring that as the dead horse does not have to be fed, it is less costly, carries lower overhead, and therefore contributes substantially more to the bottom line of the economy than do some other horses.

12. Rewriting the expected performance requirements for all horses,
and, of  course...

13. Promoting the dead horse to a supervisory position.

Slow Week In The ozarks

We didn't do a lot this week still trying to get use to this retirement thing. We did go to the big city of Springfield, MO to get my meds and to Camping World for a few things.

What's a trip to Branson without a stop at.

They make it so fast and fresh they don't even take it out of the frying pan before it's severed. This was Angela's I don't think she can eat that much. The drinks also come in a bucket size container.

I had the meat loaf it was a little tamer it was on a plate.

And if you don't eat it all this is where they put you..

Next week we have company coming so we will get out to some shows and doing more.

Week One On The Road

We left Platte City, MO on Tuesday headed for Sparrow Foot COE just south of Clinton, MO on Truman Lake it was a big travel day of about 120 miles.

We spent two days there to visit Angela's mom and Stepdad.
We pretty much had the campground to our self. We love staying at COE campground's the sites have more room for us and the dogs.

Thursday we moved on to Branson, MO another big travel day 130 miles.

We had reservation at the Escapees RV Club at Turkey Creek RV Village.

Not quite what we were expecting it's a small park and parking is close together but its quiet and the price is right. We are about 5 min from downtown Branson and its sits on Turkey Creek. This will be home till Oct 1.

We got out Friday and did some site seeing and shopping.

We found King Kong hanging on to this building.

One of the places we want to go see the Titanic world's largest museum.

Nice spot to camp.

Table Rock Lake.
The Branson Bell .

Angela found the bus she use to ride to school !!!

That commit is going to cost me.lol
